Ceremony Services

Legal civil marriages are now possible in Aruba and must take place at the Civil Town House. Couples may also arrange a religious blessing after they have been legally married either in Aruba or at home. Or if you prefer, you can just hold a romantic celebration beachside for the wedding experience of your choice!

The following are the guidelines for the various types of ceremonies:

Long Form Copies of Birth Certificate (with parents names) for Bride and Groom.

These copies have to have a raised seal. Once the raised seal is secured, they have to be submitted to the Secretary of State Office for an apostille (a separate document authenticating the certificate copy and the employee who signed the copy). The Aruba Civil Registry will keep this copy with pertaining apostille on file in Aruba.

Photo I.D. of TWO witnesses

Also the passport picture page and Minimum 18 years of age. Witnesses can be provided locally if bride and groom are traveling alone. A minimal charge will apply.

Certificate of No Impediment for bride and groom (also called “single status report” or “negative statement of marriage”)

This certificate is obtained at the Bureau of Vital Statistics and states that bride and groom are single and eligible to marry. They have to be submitted to the Secretary of State Office for an apostle (a separate document authenticating the certificate copy and the employee who signed the copy). The Aruba Civil Registry will keep this copy with pertaining apostle on file in Aruba.

Divorce Decree if either party has been divorced (a copy of the 1st and last pages).

Death Certificate if either party is a widow(er)

They have to be submitted to the Secretary of State Office for an apostille (a separate document authenticating the certificate copy and the employee who signed the copy). The Aruba Civil Registry will keep this copy with pertaining apostille on file in Aruba.

Intent to Marry Form for bride and groom

This is an Aruba Application to Marry Form forwarded to you by Aruba Weddings For You once the date and time of the civil wedding is booked and confirmed). One needs to be filled in by the bride and one by the groom.

Declaration Single Status Form for bride and groom

This is an Declaration single status form forwarded to you by Aruba Weddings for you. This form needs to be filled in completely. The Aruba Civil Registry will keep this copy on file in Aruba.

ALL COPIES NEED TO BE FAXED TO THE ARUBA WEDDINGS FOR YOU OFFICE FOR REVIEW PRIOR TO SENDING ORIGINALS BY FEDEX.

Original documents required a minimum of 4 weeks prior to wedding date!
Canadian citizens need a legalization of their birth certificates and single status reports by the consul of the Netherlands in Canada.
Ceremony can take place Monday through Friday between 10 am to 3.30 pm.
No bathing suits, shorts, cut-offs nor slippers at Civil Ceremony please.

You may also choose to do the legal part back home, no need for any of the above documentation, only a copy of your actual marriage certificate.

Religious Blessings

Roman Catholic

At present the local Archidioceses does not allow non-residents to marry in the Catholic Church. However, an exception may be made on a “one on one” basis if you can bring your own priest to perform the marriage.

Jewish

Both partners must submit a verification of Judaism from the Rabbi of their hometown.
The Aruban Rabbi accepts Jewish status certificates from valid Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, Liberal and Re-Constructionist Authorities.
A formal petition needs to be submitted to the Aruba Jewish Community.
The wedding ceremony may take place either in the synagogue or any other venue of choice.
A fee for service, ketubah and chuppah will apply.
The synagogue of Aruba is an independent Conservative-Reform style congregation.
Dress code for Blessings: No bathing suits please!
Commitment “Symbolic” Ceremonies are also performed Upon Requests. 

Christian/ Protestant/ Episcopal/ Methodist, etc (Religious)

Wedding Ceremony can be officiated in the local Protestant Church or anywhere else the couple desires.
A ceremony fee will apply.
